Enrichment - First Aid and Self Defense

Our students were joined by visitors from St John’s Ambulance as part of their enrichment programme

Our Sixth Form offers different enrichment activities every two weeks, meaning students can learn a wide range of instructive information.

Students were split into two groups, first aid and self-defence, and were taught valuable instructions on a number of life-saving procedures, including CPR, and other vital strategies for emergencies. Our students were thoroughly engaged with this workshop and learnt something new to take away from the day. Year 12 particularly enjoyed the CPR activity, from which they all enjoyed learning about how to save lives.

In addition to this, students were taught a range of self-defense strategies. For example, they learnt boxing strategies as part of the routine. Our year 12 students gave incredible feedback on the activity. Students will now have a week to reflect on their newly-learnt abilities before attempting the other activity when the groups swap over. Overall students felt that they learnt a lot of life-saving and essential information for use in life
