Forest Schools Volunteering
Sixth Form Forest Schools Volunteering
Hazel Grove High School is committed to encouraging Sixth Form students to take an active role within the school, through various roles of responsibility, and out in the wider community by taking part in community projects. These help students to develop leadership, organisation and communication skills in preparation for the opportunities and challenges ahead.
In the first year of Sixth Form all students are expected to take part in the Community Volunteering Programme (CVP). Students are able to support primary school students at Moorfield Primary Schools when they undertake their Forest Schools programme. Our Sixth Form students will be involved in working with the primary school students as they explore a range of different KS2 topics linked to working in the natural environment.
Over the course of the year, students will be expected to complete a log of the number of hours they have contributed to their voluntary activity with Moorfield Primary School. All sessions will run during Sixth Form Students Study periods and will last no more than 2 hours.
During the Forest School sessions, students will be expected to make their own way to Moorfield Primary School and back to Hazel Grove High School without missing any lessons. It is just a short 10 minute walk.
