Careers and Business Trip to New Balance Factory
Our privileged Hazel Grove 6th Form Year 13 - Business A Level Students were lucky enough to be provided with the opportunity to visit a true manufacturing facility in the UK.
New Balance Flimby, manufactures hand made footwear for the sport and leisure industry. Working in Cells, teams assemble a range of complex designs from the raw materials of leather hide, fabrics, foam and rubber into a finished pair of trainers. This is all done with precision and upmost attention to quality.
The tour of the factory was invaluable in bringing our curriculum to life showing students the logistics, management and structures within a busy production facility. We were also lucky enough to have a Q+A session with the factory manager, Andy. Furthermore the "UK & IRE Country Manager ", Graham Glasgow had kindly prepared an in-depth presentation into the history, market and finances of New Balance.
This was extremely insightful and followed by some fantastic advice on how students come make a successful career in the sportswear industry. An amazing bit of Business GOLD!
